About Me

Hi, Welcome to my personal website!

I'm Tapio Terävä, a 3D Game Artist!

Over the years I've contributed to multiple games, including commercial projects like Critical Ops. I've also taught game development and game graphics at OUAS, working for the Oulu Game LAB and in charge of the Pelifarmi training program. I have a bachelor's degree from the KUAS game development studies. I received the Excellence Award and Draft Selection badges in Rookie Awards 2020.

Who am I?

I'm an easygoing guy with a passion for video games and 3D graphics.

I'm currently looking for work in the game industry, after finishing my contract with the Oulu University of Applied Sciences, where I was in charge of the daily operation of the Pelifarmi training program, and served as a Game Graphics lecturer at the Oulu Game Lab in the spring of 2018.

In 2017 I graduated from the Kajaani University of Applied Sciences, after finishing my thesis on game character workflows. During my studies I participated in several game projects, and in 2014 I did my internship period at Critical Force, where I worked on their upcoming game Critical Ops. My tasks consisted mostly of 3D modeling, texturing, animation, and creating particle effects. I also worked on some UI assets, mock-ups and promotional material.

As a person, I'm social, easy to approach and passionate towards what I do. I'm open-minded and not too restricted by conventions and traditions, while I do realize their benefits. I like taking on challenges, and if problems arise, I'm capable of coming up with several creative ideas and suggestions to tackle them. In conflict situations I try to keep calm and stay objective in order to reach a solution. I value feedback, since it improves my work, and if given a chance, I'm willing to give constructive critique to help others improve their work as well.
